Let me preface with an introduction of myself. I met my husband by chance in 2013. We were married shortly thereafter. It was a whirlwind romance. He's Korean. I'm American. He's a firstborn son in Korea, so there are a lot of added cultural responsibilities that I did not know I had. In later blogs, I will discuss my cultural experiences. East met West. They fell madly in love, and thus ensued a tumultuous romance befitting of a feature film. I'm not gonna lie. My life is like a film in both good and bad ways. I never could have imagined getting to this point, but here we are.
My flair for the dramatic, and my temper hasn't faired well in this very Korean family. Showing emotion is taboo. Sometimes, the ideals presented to me are from an era and a place lacking feminism, and I have come to realize just how much of a feminist I am and have been my entire life. I will say this, though, I will not go down without a fight. I am a persistent woman, and I am very stubborn. Get into a fight with me, and you will lose...is often how I think of myself. I have had to relinquish some of that in order to keep the peace. So....from this point on, I will chronicle my daily life in blog form.
